The Beginning

Rising Tide Farm took root in my backyard. My family had a need for fresh produce since most grocery stores only stocked goods that had been shipped on a barge for over a week. I started small, planting rhubarb, raspberries, and greens. The joy I had with my girls in the garden was worth it. I then expanded and got involved at the local community garden so I would have room to grow more produce for my family. The experience over the last ten years of gardening has been worth all the trials and errors. The hardest thing about growing in SE Alaska is getting an early enough start to see your flowers and vegetables produce before the frost hits. I started growing plant starts to help families get a leg up on the growing season. My starts can be found for sale at the Mother’s Day plant sale in Juneau and also online, when available, for local pickup or delivery. “To plant a garden, is to believe in tomorrow” -Audrey Hepburn
